Commercial Concentration

The Commercial Concentration is structured for the advanced professional who wants to specialize in makeup techniques for commercial media work; such as, photography and runway fashion, print advertising, and video/film production.

In the Commercial Concentration you will learn: Photographic Makeup, Principals Relating to Digital Imagery, Re-touching,Filters,Diffusers,and Gels, Lighting Effects and Makeup Harmony, Correct Makeup Application that Translates across Color, Black and White, Live Action, and Still Shot Situations, Effective use of Locks, Fixatives, Sealants, Tapes, Bands, Primers, and Mattifiers, Body Sculpting, Tanning, and Corrective Techniques for Tattoo,Varicose Veins, and Stretch Mark Coverage, Fashion Imaging and Runway Makeup Techniques, How to Assemble a Compelling Tear Sheet Book and a Commercial Level Portfolio that Sells Itself, How to Effectively use Public Relations, Networking, and Marketing to Get Your Foot in the Door.

Theatrical Concentration

The Theatrical Concentration is unique in that it offers you a back stage pass to the exciting world of the theatre. The Theatrical Concentration is dedicated to providing you with the skills and makeup technique snecessary to become involved in the oldest form of makeup application.

In the Theatrical Concentration you will learn: Correct ‘White Face’ Techniques for Geisha, Clown, Mime and other Theatrical Looks, Aging Techniques with and without Prosthetics, Animal Morphing Techniques as used in Broadway shows like The Lion King and Cats, Special Effects Techniques to create Bruises, Scars, Open Wounds, Bullet Holes, and Perspiration, Classic and Fantasy Makeup Techniques to Heighten Character Emotion as used in Opera, Stage, and Ballet, Effective and Seamless Prosthetic use of Breast Forms, Artificial Skin, Noses, Chins, Mouths, and Ears, Facial Hair ‘Construction’ Utilizing Various Procedures from Cosmetic Application to Hair Piece Prosthetics, How to create Celebrity-Look-Alikes, Cross-Sex, and Historical Figures through Cosmetic and Prosthetic Alteration of Anatomy.

Reconstructive & Corrective Concentration

David Nicholas, who has been described as a "pioneer in the field of Corrective Makeup, has carefully developed the techniques you will be learning in this very special program". David developed a Reconstructive & Corrective Makeup Clinic at the Shriners Burns Hospital. His innovative techniques are utilized nationally and internationally by plastic surgeons as well as other members of the medical profession.

The impact of facial disfigurement and skin disorders whether through birth defect, accident, or illness can be devastating for the afflicted. Often shunned, many people living with facial disfigurements and skin disorders isolate further by withdrawing from society. The Reconstructive and Corrective Concentration is a vital and sensitive program that empowers those living with facial disfigurements and skin disorders to re-engage the world. This very special program is ideally suited for cosmetic and medical practitioners who wish to make a difference in the lives of others.
